Happy Birthday Nana!

July 27th was Nana's 97th birthday! There is always a big cookout at Auntie's house for her birthday. We had a great time! The kids get to swim in the pool, there is always a lot of food and fun! Nana is getting more and more forgetful these days..........she remembers our names most of the time, she remembers the great-grandkids names with a little hint. Usually when I visit it is just the girls and I and she always asks "how is your husband". I have wondered during these visits if she remembers his name. At the end of the party on Sunday, as Joe and I were walking out, she said "Is Joe married". Well now I know....she remembers his name..........but for some reason doesn't know who he is married to. This makes me wonder a couple of more things.......who does she think I am married to? and how does she think Joe became part of our family?
Nana always gets lobster for her birthday dinner.
Eating is one of Savannah's many talents! And now she has a new talent.....making sculptures from what is left over. Here is her corn cob pyramid she made after having 10 pieces of corn.
Jadzia enjoyed playing with the back scratcher/massager.......here is Savannah getting her treatment.......and Papa holding her in place. Jadzia let people know it was their turn by standing in front of them, holding the massager up in the air and yelling "lay down on your belly" in a voice that let you know she meant NOW!
Cassidy waiting for food...........no one is happy to have to get out of the pool. (Sara and Jadzia in the background)

Barnstable County Fair Animals

On Tuesday July 22 we went to the county fair. It was fun, but expensive of course...........the tickets for the rides cost way too much and each game is at least $3, but you get a prize (small prize) automatically if you pay $5 for the game! We spent a lot of time with the animals. This little guy was just walking around, he is only a few days old and very cute!
The chicken area is always a favorite because you get to hold the babies. Cassidy was a little surprised when a baby chick was put on her head..........and very relieved that it didn't have an accident.
Jadzia wasn't so lucky.........."her" baby chick did poop on her hand. She very calmly gave it back to the girl, got the poop of her hand and said "can I hold one that actually likes me now, and won't poop on me". Very funny!
Here is Cassidy and her friend riding the camel. Jadzia chose to ride a pony......all of the pictures I took of her had her looking away. The pony she was on got a little spooked so the guy took her of, settled the pony down and asked her if she wanted to get back on another one.......she said, that she wanted the same one. The guy asked us if it was ok and put her back on. She started putting up one hand and waving it around like she was in the rodeo and the man running the ride had to keep telling her to hold on with two hands. She wasn't one bit afraid.
Before we left, Jadzia said "I can't wait to see the parrots". I told her I didn't think there were usually parrots at the fair, but there would be lots of other animals. I should of listened to her because there were parrots and these Macaws, she thought these were so pretty.

Ooblick and other stuff.

This past Sunday, I woke up to an angry Joe and an embarrassed dog. The clippers we have broke 1/2 way through shaving Mr Magnus. Luckily we have a groomer in the family and I was able to borrow her clippers when we went to Provincetown that day to go to the point again. This, believe it or not, is the finished cut. I am terrible at this............good thing I am not a groomer. We had a blast at the point again. I forgot my camera but we went over later in the day and did not come back until 9:30. We had a bonfire, s'mores and fireworks. FUN FUN FUN.
Here is Savannah being silly.....surprise, surprise. She has the draw string from her pants up over her ears.
Cassidy calls this ooblick or flubber.........Jadzia had fun playing with it........I call it a mess, but worth it! It is just corn starch and water.........we also added green food coloring, but did not get a picture of it.

The Tip of the Cape

On Sunday's my family goes to "the point" in the summertime. When you look at a map of Cape Cod this is the very tip of the Cape. No one lives there.......long ago they did but they floated their houses across the harbor to live where everyone lives now. You have to get there by boat or walk across the breakwater (jetty). Here are the kids playing in the water.
Savannah Cassidy and Jadzia playing in the water (that is Savannah with Jadzia's duck floatie)
Cassidy coming out to dry off.
Jadzia "surfing" without waves.
Magnus came with us for the day........he is not much of a water dog but loved being with all of us. He kept trying to drink the salt water.........and had a bit of a belly ache later. Thanks for checking in!

Pilgrim Monument

On July 5th we went to the Pilgrim Monument........here are the views from the bottom looking up from the outside and inside. Jadzia was afraid at first when I said we were going to "climb" the monument. She must have thought I meant we were climbing the outside. She had fun running up the stairs and ramps.

View from the top....very overcast day. but still a good view.
Taking pictures after climbing.

Fireworks!

This year we went to the fireworks in Sean's boat. Here we are getting closer to Provincetown (from Truro).
Fireworks are the reason why the 4th of July is my favorite holiday.........that and the cookouts......we actually went to 2 cookouts in the same day. Right after the parade we went to my Aunts house and the kids got to swim in her pool. Jadzia was upset about watching the fireworks....she thought they were going to be loud....she was scared. As you can see, once they started whe was having a blast. She kept yelling "that's awesome".
There is nothing better than watching the fireworks over the water.......
Jadzia was exhausted and fell asleep on the way home.
Cassidy waiting for fireworks to start.

Happy Birthday Sara!

The 4th of July also happens to be Sara's birthday. She is now 15. Opening the gift from Sean......a pair of ear rings.

Unpacking

We are home.......I couldn't reach the straps on top of the van so Savannah had to climb up. Good thing I am an ER nurse........safety first at all times. Do not try this at home.

Last Day of Jellystone Fun

These first two pictures were actually taken the day before we left...the 29th. Here is Savannah doing what she does best......."texting" her friends.
Jadzia and Cassidy taking the morning hayride with boo-boo bear.
Waiting for Cindy bear for our last hayride of the trip.
Cassidy and Cindy Bear.

Jadzia and Cindy bear.

We don't want the fun to end.

This was Jadzia's favorite ride. It is an old fashioned car that you have to "drive" around a course. There is a metal rail guiding the car along but you have to step on the gas and turning the wheel really moves the car side to side. Jadzia drove a few times and then went on with Cassidy.
Savannah and Emily enjoying the roller-coaster. Cassidy, Savannah and Emily went on 29 times in a row. Jadzia and I joined them for the last 5 times....we got off when Jadzia said "my belly feels a little sick". As soon as we rested 2 minutes Jadzia wanted to get back on but it was closing time.
Cassidy loving the roller-coaster.
Sunday the 29th we went to Weirs Beach. Cassidy loved the water slides.
Jadzia hated the water slides. She went down twice with Savannah and then her and I went across the street to the beach.

More weekend fun

That's my girl.......Cassidy is getting a tattoo.......air brush of course.

Jadzia loved this roller coaster..........she wouldn't put her hands up until the end though. I think we rode this 4 or 5 times, and each ride means you go around 2 or 3 times.
A fun little water ride.
